Themes
Light, dark or following the system, the built-in theme, and themes installed from a file or the catalog.
Themes are in Settings › Appearance. Changes apply at once.
Light and dark
Color mode is System, Light or Dark. System, the default, follows your operating system and switches when it does. Every theme has a light and a dark variant, and the color mode picks which one you see.
Choosing a theme
The default theme is Kettu, built into the app. Installed themes show beside it; click one to use it. A theme also sets the colors of code blocks, diffs, the Files editor and the terminal.
The More themes tile adds one:
Browse themes lists the themes of the Kettu catalog on GitHub. Install downloads one and switches to it; when a newer version is out, the button reads Update to and the version. The catalog follows your proxy setting.
Install from file… takes a .json theme file of up to 256 KB with both a light and a dark variant, and switches to it. If a theme with that name is installed, Kettu asks whether to replace it.
Each theme’s menu has Export…, which saves it as a file. Installed themes also have Show in Finder (Show in Explorer on Windows) and Remove….
A theme with text under 4.5:1 contrast against its background is marked Low contrast. If an installed theme can no longer load, Kettu’s own theme shows instead.
